Knitting the Rainbow Garden

Knitting the Rainbow Garden

North Light Arts are really excited about the launch of our summer project in the Backlands Community Garden were we will be creating a Rainbow Garden in the Community Gathering Space.

On 22April, which is John Muir’s Birthday, we had a fabulous day with craft demonstrations from the Haddington Spinners and lots more artisans who were in the marquees in the garden. Lots of People dropped in on their way from Dunbar High St to the Coop car park for hands on activities for all ages – trying their hand at spinning, crochet or knitting.

A full programme of FREE workshops throughout the summer and has been made possible through the fantastic support of Grow Wild – a Kew Gardens outreach project and The Ridge.

You can help to create the Rainbow Garden and also to learn new skills throughout the summer and the programme dates will be available on the day.

In addition to these artists run workshops we will have voluntary days so that people can get together socially in the peaceful green surroundings of the garden in the heart of the town. The end result will be a collaged hanging, to be hung in the garden like a tapestry as part on an autumn Harvest Festival.
