FOR THE LOVE OF SOILS

A PEOPLE’S COLLECTION

North Light Arts, John Muir Fellowship, Natalie Taylor

This is a collection of soil samples donated by ordinary people who have a connection with a specific soil or place. Each soil is accompanied by an explanation about why it was chosen. The collection together represents a common voicing of appreciation for soil, land, growing spaces, and other locations including those which have been regenerated after toxic industrial processes. The soils will be used to create an artwork towards the end of the residency and the stories shared.

Some of the soils were collected during the Pilgrimage for COP26 and others have been sent in by individuals from around the country. We will be sharing the soil stories over the coming months here.

If you would like to donate a soil sample from a place that is important to you, we would love to hear from you.
Please send it to : Flux Products, 80 High St, Dunbar EH42 1JH.
Marking it – For the Love of Soil Collection
Importantly, please include a 100 word explanation of why you have donated this soil along with the location of where it is from and contact details.
