FEATURING TREASURES FROM DUNBAR

The exhibition invites you to travel 1000 years into the future where a hoard of valuable and rare plastic objects has been found.

Scottish artists Coleman & Hodges have created the exhibition which explores the many different futures of plastic through the eyes of a museum set in the future. The Solway Hoard considers the legacy of our time: The Plastic Age (1950-2050). By travelling to a museum set 1,000 years into the future, we can reflect on this period through the exhibits and their stories.

The artists will also be collecting plastic objects for a new Dunbar focused exhibition that will run alongside The Solway Hoard. They will be running participatory workshops, inviting participants to create new stories around these objects for the exhibition. The workshops will engage people in imagining scenarios which will explore our current addiction to plastics and the implications for our future.

The exhibition is inspired by The Galloway Hoard, the collection of rare and unique Viking-age objects discovered in S.W Scotland. This new exhibition features additional treasures from Dunbar. It is a compelling journey into the many possible futures of plastic.

Originally commissioned by Solway Firth Partnership in collaboration with The Museums of the FutureNow, it is being shown in Dunbar with the support of North Light Arts and East Lothian Council.
